English term or phrase: Gimp pin
Small coloured steel nails (semences) for attaching braid (galon) to upholstered furniture. These are available in the UK but we have not found them in France

neutral  Tony M: Sadly, the examples i've found of these have been quite different thing — principally, wih large, decorative heads, instead of discreet ones that are intended to be invisible.
