I hate doing this to you guys, but it's not just what's in people's cupboards, it's everything; what's in the garage, the shed... any object at all that is part of the household. Unfortunately, I can't be as specific as 'placards' (just the title of this section is called "placards, tiroirs et �tag�res", so more than just the cupboards is involved). I know, I'm a pain in the butt...

thank you Thierry, unfortunately, there's about 10 such titles, all translated the same way "m�thodes pour am�liorer le seuil d'�quilibre de ... ", with the blank being either "votre domicile", "votre sant�", "vos finances", ou, dans ce cas, vos "storage contents". This book uses finance jargon for most of its topics. You're supposed to stocktake your life, breaking it down into cat�gories (like your health, you money, etc.), and then you have to find a breakeven position for each category to make your living as efficient as possible. It's quite pedant, boring and tedious, but that's what I'm working on. So even though I like your sentence, it's not going to work in this context, I'm afraid. Unless I just use the word "rangement". It's a possibility. Thanks! :-)))

I really doubt that the whole phrase will help, Thierry, but here it is! It's a title: Ways to improve storage contents breakeven" (it's from a book about "auditing" your own life)
