English term or phrase:to seek offence
Hey there !
"Such statements are the calculated response of a regime not just taking, but actively seeking, offence. "
This comes from an article written about Gillian Gibbson, the school teacher who spent two weeks in prison in Sudan because she let her pupils name their teddybear Mahomet. The sudanese officials say she did it on purpose, to offence people. By using seeking offence does the journalist mean aggravating the situation ? I thought I might use "envenimer la situation", but I'm not sure it's exactly the same thing ...
Any ideas ?
