Explanation:
Ça dépend de quoi on parle. Si votre exposé porte sur qqch reliées aux sciences cognitives, il faut nécessairement garder le mot "cerveau", dans quel cas je dirais quelque chose comme "maintenir l'activité cognitive" ou "maintenir l'activité du cerveau".

Si par contre c'est dans un sens plus figuratif, je dirais plutôt "engager (ou susciter) la réflexion (ou la pensée)".

Un autre point: si vous voulez dire "involved" dans un sens tel que "keep the brain involved (in the discussion/debate)", je dirais plus qqch comme "gardons à l'esprit le cerveau".
