  -> Thanks for your remark, but given the resource document consulted just gave me "gruau", I could not add any "de maïs" on it and so agree with the previous proposal, except to your opinion "gruau" and "gruau de maïs" are the same

bouillie de maïs
grits ou hominy grits - traditionnel dans le sud des États-Unis.
"grits" are produced by course-grinding alkali-treated maize; these are boiled to produce a thick, gritty-pasty dish much favored in the US south (you need to be born to it).

agree  Beila Goldberg: Pour une européenne et voyant les photos, bouillie est plus évocateur que semoule (plus granuleuse, comme la semoule de blé utilisée pour le couscous). Cela ressemble vraiment à un porridge!
