Je crois que le terme est vraiment fort et est porteur du sens "aliénant" ou "déshumanisant". Si le niveau de langage ici doit être parlé voire familier et ne permet pas d'utiliser ces termes, "ça détruit à l'intérieur" pourrait fonctionner, à mon sens.
