English term or phrase:stunned
"Clinton knew to expect resistance from voters in the more conservative areas of upstate New York, but the reception she got from women - especially white baby boomers and moms in the suburbs - stunned the campaign."
Je comprends le terme de "stunned", mais je n'arrive pas à le rendre.
Des idées ?
Oops, désolée pour le manque de clareté !
La phrase précédente dit : "When Hillary Clinton ran in 2000 fir the hardly trailblazing role of 27th woman in the Senate, albeit the first from New York, the sisterhood nearly threw her to the wolves".
@ Tony. Can't find reference to this particular event, and agree with you about ambiguity (though beginning of sentence appears to imply it's negative).. but the few refs to "stunned the campaign" on Google all seem to imply sth negative
