English to French translations [PRO]
Bus/Financial - Human Resources
English term or phrase: old boys syndrome
Dans une procédure de recrutement.
Ai un doute sur le sens.

"Generally one should take references with the candidate’s manager or someone with a supervisory relationship who can attest to their professional abilities and behaviour. In certain cases it can be useful to follow up with peers or direct reports who can comment on their managerial capabilities, although one should be wary of the “old boys syndrome”.

Explanation:
it could be chaps from Oxford etc. too, not just public schools. If the text aims beyond this, perhaps 'réseau' might work. The negative slant to Tony's 'pistonage' might be better though, as here is the French TRYING to establish a similar kind of 'networking' (!)
