English to French translations [PRO] Idioms / Maxims / Sayings
English term or phrase:Nice 1
I was interpreting for a young asylum seeker, helping him buy clothes, (as he had come to the UK with only what he was wearing). He bought a T-shirt with this written on it. What is the equivalent (idiomatic) expression in French? (If it was written down at all, of course, you would normally expect it to be written 'Nice one'
I appear to have accepted the answer 'bien joue' by mistake, in any case! I'm sure that is quite a good way of saying this, but I had hoped to see what other people have to say. Thank you, Michel, in any case.
It could be 'bien joue', assuming that that has a wider meaning than just in a game. I don't think 'Bravo!' quite covers the implication of 'Nice one', which, to me implies both an element of admiration and an expression of having won/achieved something, or been lucky. 'Spot on' is, again, similar, but not so street-wise and pally, and the element of luck seems to be missing.
