I'm fairly certain this is a typo for "ping" - a technical expression that should be left as is.

To be more precise, ping is a TCP/IP standard to send a signal to a remote computer to check if you get an answer or not. In my opinion, it origins in the sonar \"ping\" sounds used by submarines to navigate.

A ma connaissance, aucuns mots purement français n\'existent pour ping et proxy.
