En France et en Belgique, on retrouve en annexe aux comptes annuels à la fois la liste des **engagements donnés** et celle des engagements reçus, lorsque ces informations sont significatives pour la société concernée. Le terme comptabilité d'engagements est parfois employé pour évoquer la comptabilisation, dans des comptes d'engagement et des comptes d'ordre, d'opérations qui n'apparaissent pas dans le bilan.
