-Tobin Tax - A Tobin tax is a tax on all spot transactions of one currency into another. The tax is intended to put a penalty on short-term financial round-trip excursions into another currency.
-Spahn Tax– Paul Spahn concluded that the Tobin Tax was not viable as it was virtually impossible to distinguish between ***normal liquidity trading*** and speculative noise trading. He proposed a change to the Tobin Tax with a two-tier rate structure consisting of a low-rate financial transactions tax and an exchange surcharge at prohibitive rates, which is termed the Spahn Tax. |
