"All differences arising out of this Policy shall be referred to the decision of an Arbitrator to be appointed in writing by the parties thereto or if they cannot agree upon a single Arbitrator to the decision of two Arbitrators, one to be appointed in writing by each of the parties or in the case of disagreement between the Arbitrators, to the decision of an Umpire appointed in writing by the Arbitrators before entering on the reference and the making of the award shall be a condition precedent to any liability of the Company or any right of action against the Company."

Lors des rencontres internationales de foot, les arbitres sont trois. Dans les cas d'arbitrage juridique, en général, un ou deux arbitres ("Arbitrators") suffisent.
Quand ils sont deux, nommés par les deux parties, la première chose qu'ils font est d'en nommer un troisième ("Umpire") qui, si les négociations échouent
ou se bloquent, aura le dernier mot. Ma question: comment traduire "Umpire" en francais? Note: le terme est courant en droit britannique but not in the US

Pour départager les avis/conseils d'un ingénieur d'ECHIROLLES soutenu par une avocate de Montréal et un avocat international du barreau de NY, je ne me vois pas très bien faire appel à ou jouer au surabitre... Heureusement ces avis se rejoignent. D'ailleurs poursuivant mes recherches, je suis tombé sur une convention européenne qui ajoute:
" arbitre unique, arbitre président, super-arbitre, tiers arbitre ou arbitre en chef "
