"During the mid 1990's, a reunion album was on the cards at one point, but this project was allegedly shelved by domestic interference."

On parle ici d'un groupe de metal anglais.
Je comprends "domestic interference" plus ou moins comme s'il y avait des dissensions / conflits entre eux, mais j'ai un doute (le "by" me paraît étrange ici).
Des idées ?

yes maybe, depending on the context in that case. But in my opinion "dissension entre les membres du groupe" can also involve problems with the spouse of band member since the translation I offer is "wide" enough to include this type of problem in French. If the context mentions that it's a problem with a spouse in this case maybe "problèmes familiaux" ?
