My daughter, who knows a little French, has two ginger cats, and wants to know what a ginger cat is in French. I can't find any meaning of "ginger" in my dictionary which seems suitable for this

Au fait, est-ce un hasard ce chat roux? «Oh!non.Je n'ai pas acheté de chat tant que je n'en ai pas trouvé un roux. On m'avait dit que les chats roux était les plus affectueux. J'ai donc attendu de le rencontrer», raconte encore Josée qui ne regrette pas son choix. «Ce chat est effectivement très affectueux. Il veut des caresses. Il vient s'asseoir sur moi tant que je ne les lui donne pas. Il est très calin», ajoute-t-elle sur un ton qui ne laisse aucun doute quant à son affection réciproque pour ce beau mâle bâtard.
