La veille à la concurrence se rapporte uniquement aux renseignements relatifs aux concurrents d'une entreprise, et la veille au marché, uniquement aux renseignements liés à l'environnement commercial de celle-ci. Quant à la veille économique, elle englobe tous les aspects de l'entreprise et comprend à la fois la veille à la concurrence et la veille au marché.
