|English term or phrase: product confusion|
|Perhaps the only result worse than failure is unrecognized success. If deploying a Webenabled application decreases the time-to-market for a new product—which generates new revenue more quickly—but the only measure of success is “reduced cost of sale”, then the benefit may be overlooked. Web deployment most often requires multiple metrics to reach accurate conclusions. Sometimes the results for a project delivers mixed results, such as lengthening the sales cycle—perhaps because of increased product confusion—but reducing the transaction cost for each sale. Mixed results require careful analysis to determine the accuracy of a solution, and accurate differentials require accurate baselines. Baselines must be taken at the beginning of a project, and based on definable, observable business objectives.|
