The greater surface tension of the pigment relative to the solvent results in the air "sticking" to the pigment; this creates the uplift necessary to make the pigment float to the surface of the coating.

Gilles a raison. En fait, ce qui me gène dans la proposition de Golub, c\'est le \"particules d\'air\". On parle plutôt de molécules d\'air ou peut-être ici de microbulles d\'air....What do you think?
