échantillonnage aligné is the translation of "line plot survey" - it is not a line plot - and in any case the expression is worryingly scarce. I've looked at numerous documents on presenting data graphically (in fact I am writing a bilingual tutorial that touches on the topic) and I haven't ever seen anything that vaguely resembles a line plot in a French text. Strange!

Joshua, the line plot I am referring to corresponds exactly to the diagram shown on the first website link you provided: http://www.icoachmath.com/math_dictionary/Line_Plot.html. I'm a bit hesitant to consider "diagramme à/en batons" as the translation, since "diagramme à/en batons" refers to a bar graph. There's a slight difference between the bar graph and the line plot. The line plot has many "x'es" to show the frequency, at least in the document I'm working on. I'm leaning more towards "échantillonnage aligné" since it seems to better convey the diagram in question. Any thoughts?

The thing is, we really need to know what this line plot is referring to. The definition of line plot that you found, presumably on this website:
http://www.icoachmath.com/math_dictionary/Line_Plot.html (similar to what wiki calls "dot plot") is not the same as the type of line plot presented here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Line_chart which is basically a scatter plot where the points are connected. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the translations provided refer to this second type of plot.
