English to French translations [PRO] Medical - Medical: Cardiology | | English term or phrase: index hospitalization | The number of acute MI patients (greater than 20 years old) in Ontario surviving their index hospitalization in the 1996-1997 fiscal year was 15,773. If data from the US Myocardial Infarction Triage and Intervention (MITI) registry represent overall EF distribution among survivors of MI, then about 10 per cent of survivors may be eligible (using an EF less than 30 per cent) for a prophylactic ICD. Therefore, approximately 1,578 patients in Ontario would be eligible each year for a prophylactic ICD.
