The following criteria must be satisfied for the setting up of a polyclinic:

1. The polyclinic must cater for both inpatients and outpatients and provide for the reception and treatment of emergencies
2. All inpatient and outpatient treatments must be provided on the same **campus**
3. The polyclinic must have a minimum of 30 beds for inpatient treatment
4. The polyclinic must provide at least 3 of the following specialties:

• Medicine
• Surgery
• Paediatrics
