There is no name of the corporation, it just appeared like that in the text. There was no mention of a corporation before.

disagree  Dr Sue Levy: I don't see why it can't be one company - the corporation - since when does that mean a group of research units and labs?//I've never seen corporation used in that sense

  -> I never said it couldn't be a single company. But I think in this case, with the data given by the asker, corporation could take a more global meaning. People in the same business, or several labs (maybe in the same company) specilized in that field.
