http://www.proz.com/kudoz/english_to_french/medical:_pharmac...

Intensive care is NOT acute care.

http://nurseweb.ucsf.edu/www/spec-acp.htm

In short, ACNPs are needed to help assess and manage acutely ill patients within the inpatient/hospital setting and across hospital-to-clinic settings, including the emergency department, intensive care unit, specialty labs, acute and sub-acute care wards, specialty clinics, or any combination of the above.

Intensive and Critical Care: The Surgical Critical Care Team includes 8 full-time intensivists providing 24/7 coverage. The intensivist-led Surgical Critical Care Team is in essence the ‘captain of the ship’, being solely responsible for all care given to the ICU patient. As opposed to care being the responsibility of many single organ doctors (SOD), this model of care delivery in an ICU environment has been shown to decrease errors, morbidity, mortality, and length of stay[i]. Each of the ICUs is state-of-the-art with bedside automated computer systems including neuroassessment data, laboratory results, nursing notes, and digitalized radiology, among others.

Acute Care: Once stable and able to move out of the ICU setting, patients with SCI benefit from the newly renovated Neuroscience Unit (2E and 2E-IMC). This unit was designed to provide state-of-the-art care for individuals with neurological disease or injury.
