nom d'utilisateur

User name.
I think this is pretty common. There is also "pseudonyme" or pseudo (often for chat). I think I have even seen "login" on French sites.

Experience translating web sites.

Ouverture de session

Bien qu'Alexandra ait raison, comme il s'agit d'un titre, s'il définit l'ensemble de la procédure (nom d'utilisateur, mot de passe, whatever...), cette expression sera peut-être plus appropriée.

Syn.logon, log on, log-on, log-in...
ouverture de session n. f.
ouverture d'une session n. f.

Déf. : Procédure d'entrée en communication d'un utilisateur au début d'une session de travail, afin de lui permettre d'accéder à un système informatique.
Note : Au début de chaque session, l'utilisateur doit s'identifier en inscrivant son nom d'utilisateur et son mot de passe. Le nom d'utilisateur est généralement différent du véritable nom de l'utilisateur. La Commission générale de terminologie et de néologie de France a retenu le terme «connexion ».

Although login is strictly speaking a noun, it is increasingly used as a verbal expression as one word. The noun login is frequently translated by login in French. For the verb, you would use the above.
