XXX is a potent and selective post-synaptic alpha1-adrenoceptor blocking agent exhibiting hardly any permeation of the blood-drain barrier and practically lacking any effect on the CNS. This compound has been developed by Eisai Co., Ltd. and was launched in Japan in 1985 in the form of a plain tablet formulation. Its structural formula is shown below.
XXX * retard *is a controlled – release formulation developed with the aims of controlling hypertension with a single daily dose and of simultaneously minimizing the adverse effects characteristic of alpha1-blockings agents.

disagree Drmanu49: I would have used "retard" as in "lasilix retard". This is for the brand name, not a description of the action. My remark because of the way it is written: XXX * retard *is a controlle..
