Explanation, directly from the lab:

A1-2 stands for a number of cassettes containing samples for biopsy, in this case 1-2 pieces (as opposed to liquid) were analysed, and "nor" stands for "No reserve". i.e. no samples for biopsy left.

I agree, Liz, the slides cut from the paraffin blocks have the same denomination as the blocks they are cut from. Sorry I did not make this clear.

Equally, "A1" could be the slide the samples are on...

I'm not sure adenosine receptors are relevant here, because it seems to be gross pathological sample examination. In my medical center, tissues are cut into sections that get assigned "block" names A1, A2...A12, B1, B2 etc. Could this be it?
