English term or phrase: château generalship
Contexte : la bataille de la Somme en 1916. De nombreux QG étaient installés dans des chateaux. Le texte ci-dessous est une légende de photo

Lieutenant-General Sir Henry Rawlinson, outside Querrieu Château near Amiens [...]. If "chateau generalship" was to become unpopular in [WWII], it was only because radios allowed commanders to move away from a rigid communication system based on telephone networks. Only by being at the château could Rawlinson control his troops and the progress of the battle.
