Ca peut même être un cran de mire "rabattable". Je suis certain que c'est un cran de mire (vocabulaire militaire) porté par un "téton". Je suis désolé, mais "encoche en saillie" n'a pas de sens...

"raised notch" indiquerait que le téton est relevé, et le cran de mire en position. Sur certains fusils-mitrailleurs (FM 24-29 ?), il était rabattable.
"Notch" = Cran de mire.
