Science - Mining & Minerals / Gems / pricing
English term or phrase: assumed discount rate
Estimated costs of mining ore and waste, of processing ore, and of a general and administrative nature were input, as was a selected gold price of US$370,00 per ounce(13000$ le Kg). The assumed discount rate was 10%.

Explanation:
Because the price of gold is not stable and dependent on market variation, the estimate of 370.00USD/oz was a low yearly average preceeding the ore exploitation. In order to assess the rentability, they discounted the announced price by 10% which is a market estimation of the potential gold price fluctuation. Hence, the exploitaton viability was assessed for a real gold market price of 90% of 370.00 USD/oz or 333.00 USD/oz. This would be translated in French by:

However, "assumed" is a faux ami. I believe it means « supposé », here.
