English term or phrase: hand or custom-made mute over the bell
In Virtual Trumpet, a set of notes can be achieved by setting the starting position of the valves at specific levels. This is done by selecting numbers 1 to 8 on the numbered keys at the top of the PC keyboard, before pressing the numbered keys on the numeric keypad of the PC keyboard.

Virtual trumpet helps you to learn the main valve combinations through the entire range of the instrument. It also lets you achieve so-called 'false fingering', where you quickly play two notes to produce a 'doo-wah' sound, which is popular is trumpet solos. And, it also produces 'mute' notes - notes played with a hand or custom-made mute over the trumpet's bell.
