English term or phrase: mulinyan
Talking about an italian gangster community .

"Before you know it, you got mulinyans movin'in".

Thought it might be something to do with the Irish community.

Thanks.

French translation:NO RECORD
Explanation:
The totally unfamiliar word captured my attention.

It's not Irish (I'm Irish and it just doesn't appear Irish, nor have I ever heard of it).

It doesn't appear in my English dictionaries.

It doesn't appear in a search on the web.

Is it a surname/family + 's? (There is a surname Mulinya)

Given the Italian context, it might be a corruption of an Italian word, or 'underworld' English. I suggest you submit in in the Italian section and see what comes up.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

disagree  eyetaliandeac: Mulinyan is the/an italian word, possibly spelled incorrectly, that means eggplant. It is used as a racial slur against black people.

agree  Danthrax (X): In a way agree with Eyetalianeac but it's not actual Italian, it's a dialect, possilbly/ more than likely Sicilian, Melanzane is Italian for eggplant, but Mulinyan IS a racial slur against coloured people!

agree  Stregabella: Colored people is also a racial slur...unless you live in 1965.
