Many thanks for your help! You obviously understood the context of the terms (conflict/war) though this may not have been totally clear in my question. However, it would be most helpful to know whether these are your personal suggestions(and they do seem to make a lot of sense)or whether they are established equivalents(as far as any translation term can be!).

Explanation:
"target-rich environmment" cannot be translated out of context. "Combat fatigue" is what soldiers wear in combat: "tenue de combat". "Back-door" is a back entrance, but difficult to translate out of context, maybe "entrer par la petite porte". Just a remminder: tranlators translate ideas and not words. Words out of context have no meaning.
