véhicule loisir travail V.L.T Explanation: I believe a *suburban*, here, is short for a *suburban/sport utility vehicle*, or SUV (I've also heard them called: suburban **attack** vehicles!!!). Once upon a time, a suburban would have been another word for a station wagon, but that isn't what "with it" executives with laptops are driving nowadays. In any case, here is what Termium gives for SUVs: French:Road Transport véhicule loisir travail s CORRECT,MASC V.L.T. s CORRECT,MASC DEF - Véhicule tout terrain ou tous chemins, généralement à toutes roues motrices, à vocation utilitaire et à usage de loisirs. s Reference: http://www.termium.com |

Espaces (or equivalent) Explanation: You don't have 'suburban' cars. What the writer must mean is the type of car that people who live in suburbs drive. In France this would be something like an Espace or a 4x4 (depending on the context and the cultural references of the client) jcoulter |

Chevy Suburban Explanation: The Chevy Suburban is the fashionable Yuppie vehicle. It's an SUV (=VLT) all right, but it's also a status symbol. Given that this is a cultural reference, it the text is not going to the North American market, you should probably go with a rephrase, an image with the equivalent meaning for your market or add a translator's note. Monospaces Explanation: Pour rebondir sur la réponse de "coulter", le terme générique en Français est "monospace", car "espace" désigne un monospace particulier fabriqué par Renault (en fait je crois le premier modèle de ce genre de véhicules en France) |

Véhicules sportifs utilitaires Explanation: I actually own 2 Suburbans which I use to pull my horse trailers. In the US, these are long, large sport utility vehicles (SUV's) which are a little bit of a status symbol. A combination of a van and a station wagon (break) with all the luxurious additions of a classic sedan. You must find the equivalent in France! |

monospaces Explanation: Leurs tarifs sont plus élevés que d'autres parce que leurs représentants circulent dans des gros monospaces et se servent d'ordinateurs portables. |
