BROAD BAND (large bande) : http://www.tctrust.net/bbwaln.htm Broad band : Bandwidth controls the amount of information that can be transmitted at any time. E-mail sends little nuggets of information really quickly, so needs ‘thin pipes’ (or narrow bandwidth) for its transfer. Make this available to students in a school and lots of small amounts add up to require a fatter ‘pipe’ to keep the flow moving. Include fat chunks of video and a larger pipe or broad-band channel is needed. Given this, the door opens to major amounts of information going back and forth with lots of users at once. Some developing technologies only allow broad band in one direction satellite transmission is an example with a balance of two-way communication yet to be affordable for schools. http://www.korbi.net/about/whyus.asp Fat pipe and broad band connectivity : An additional strength is our partnership with UUNET, which allows our clients to be directly linked to UUNET’s (hyperlink to their url) international bandwidth. With 76 MB of Internet connectivity with the outside world, we place client servers in some of Africa’s most state of the art datacentres. These datacentres are placed all over the country with the latest one being completed in Cape Town. A much larger datacentre is currently being constructed in Gauteng. |

antenne/satellite Explanation: "Canalisation" traduirait "fat pipe".
