I'd translate as 'segment' or 'multi-segment' if division refers to the type of sensor. But there could be a comma missing between the words division and spot, which would make division refer to a metering mode. Then the translation would become something like 'multi, spot' or 'multi, sélective'.
So this is a digital camera, and we're talking abut TTL metering? Great! Yes, as you say, it sounds as if the field is divided into 247 'zones' — surely this can't be just the central metering spot? Unless that is a 19 × 13 pixel 'spot'? Could be, I suppose.
So I'd say it's either 'spot metering that operates over 247 zones' (seems impractically large!) or else a 'central metering spot that measures 19 × 13 pixels' — either way; 'division' seems quite the wrong word in EN, I'd start off working from the assumption that it is either 'zones' or more likely 'pixels'. Where does that take us in FR? Surely 'zones' or 'pixels'? Hence why Asker needs to provide a maximum of context.
Tony, it's the meter of a S*ms*ng camera. 'Spot' refers to spot metering, and 'division' probably is just a different name for segment: 247 segments or zones. So that would be 'segment' in French. What do you think?
