If this is intended to be handed over to a French-speaking singer to make a cover version, it should be adapted not truly translated... If it's for school use or subtitles in a film then by all means it's the translation "pour le pire" is the closest to the original meaning....
a play on words is created here, as "for good" on its own means "for ever", « pour toujours »; but on hearing "for ill", you reinterpret "for good" as belonging to the phrase "for good or ill" , « pour le meilleur et pour le pire ».
Yes, I think you could be right: gone for good, and gone for real makes sense.
