il s'agit d'un texte victorien (pour situer l'ambiance)
Et voilà le contexte :
She rushed on alone into the house, and
he followed quickly, going directly up
a rickety pair of stairs and coming out
into a room lighted by a smoky lamp.
J'ai un petit doute et j'ai donc besoin de vos lumières pour cette smoky lamp.
Explanation: I suppose the problem is finding out if Smoky refers to the colour of the lamp itself, or to the fact that it emits smoke; or simply to the fact that it is covered in smoke?

Asker: That's exactly my problem : is is the color or the fact that it emits smoke ? I had a look on Internet and found references to oil lamps (I don't know if it is the right word for it, sorry)...
