agree  Didier Fourcot: Dans ce contexte stress=stress en français, mais à mon avis l'analogie est faite avec la mécanique où une contrainte (stress) produit une déformation (strain), ici c'est plutôt une contrainte (strain) qui produit un stress

Explanation:
Dans Dictionnaire de la psychologie et des sciences connexes (Jacques Castonguay, Maloine éditeur), on donne «tension» ou «surtension» pour «strain». Le terme est suffisamment générique pour désigner aussi bien une tension intellectuelle => «contention» (voir Petit Robert) qu'une tension physique => «crispation» (voir Petit Robert)
