Here is a description that gives an idea of what a lead curtain looks like:
"The lead curtain was changed between the scattering chamber and charybdis. It now consists of 8 sheets of lead with holes. There are still 12 solid sheets after charybdis."
I think any of the above wording would convey the meaning. Unfortunately, I can't tell you which one is the one that is normally used in that field.
