"Against the Gods" est le titre d'un livre sur l'histoire du risque. Le jeu de mots (avec "against the odds") se réfère au fait que l'invention des probabilités (et avec elles, la possibilité de quantifier le risque) n'a été possible qu'une fois que les êtres humains se sont libérés de la tutelle de l'Eglise (Renaissance, humanisme, etc.).

La traduction française publiée est "Plus forts que les Dieux" - mais là, si on garde le sens de l'émancipation,je crois qu'on perd la réf à la notion de "odds"... Le titre de la traduction française sera bien entendu cité, cependant je voudrais utiliser, dans la traduction de mon papier, le double sens de la métaphore. Avez-vous des solutions créatives pour surprendre les deux sens?... Le papier s'adresse à des universitaires (France), très sensibles à la nuance... Vivement merci pour votre aide précieuse.
