English to French translations [PRO] Social Sciences - Social Science, Sociology, Ethics, etc. | | English term or phrase: labour displacement | Context: NGO report on women's labour migration.
"Women – and migrant women, in particular – are affected by these immense economic restructuring processes in many ways. Growing unemployment and underemployment, reduced social services, labour displacement, increasing poverty and inequality, and violence against women have created and will continue to create rising pressure on women to look for new survival strategies for themselves and their families in foreign countries."
From what I have found, "labour displacement" can be meant either as job cuts, the transfer of jobs from one sector to another or a geographical displacement (delocalisation). I am a bit puzzled as it does not seem to be used consistently. I have the impression the meaning here would be that of "job cuts" (do you agree?).
I have found the expression "déplacement de la main d'œuvre" in French, but it only seems to cover the idea of delocalisation and sectorial transfer. What would be the correct terminology in this context?
Thanks a bunch! |
