Celui qui a fait le meilleur score sur ces 6 derniers trous est troisième.
Suivant le règlement de la compétition ou propre au Club, ce départage peut être fait sur l'entièreté du retour ( 9 trous), les 6 derniers trous ou les trois derniers trous.
Le départage est calculé, fait, établi ... suivant un décompte.
Il sera le plus souvent dit et écrit : départage sur les 9, 6 ou 3 derniers trous.

Pour départager les golfeurs qui ont obtenu le même score, on compare le score qu'ils ont obtenu sur les 6 derniers trous et on prend le meilleur.
Le départage se faisait entre les scores du dernier parcours, puis le score des 9 derniers trous, les 6 etc….
