schtrumpfs

Explanation:
Broadcast Echo Requests, I believe, are spam e-mails sent out with "confirmation request" attached. When someone confirms reception of the e-mail, this confirms to the spammer that the address is valid. They will then continue to send to that address and sell their list as being "verified".

I assume the "Smurf Attack" is a nicname for this type of e-mail. A Smurf in French is a Schtrumpf.

Hope this helps,
WMT

... but the correct spelling is "Schtroumpf" in French and the corresponding verb is "schtroumpfer".

Explanation:
(my IP had a huge problem with that a couple of weeks ago).

I have never seen it as anything but smurf, and I would not presume to translate it as schtroumpf... aussi tentant soit-il.

(ping: Packet InterNet Groper. A program used to test network connectivity, and sometimes DNS address resolution. PING sends
an ICMP Echo Request message to a destination and reports whether it receives an ICMP Echo Reply message in response.)

Hope this helps.

diffusion de demandes d'écho (smurfing)

Explanation:
Toutefois, étant donné que "smurf" est le nom du programme utilisé par les hackers (cf "The "smurf" attack, named after its exploit program, is one of the most recent in the category of network-level attacks against hosts..."), je le laisserai tel quel.
