vacuum = vide ici dépression c. à dire vide partiel.
contactor = contacteur, interrupteur, en technique électrique on se contente de contact lorsqu'il s'agit d'un contacteur à un seul contact, mais ce n'est pas toujours le cas.

Il y a deux types de contacts :
le contact peut être NF c'est à dire normalement fermé au repos (NC en anglais pour Normally Closed) on dit aussi contact de repos;
le contact NO, Normalement Ouvert au repos (NO normally Open en anglais) et par conséquent fermé au travail, d'où son équivalent contact de travail.

Très souvent les manocontacts qui réagissent soit à une surpression soit à une dépresssion possèdent les deux types de contacts dans le même boîtier afin de répondre à tous les besoins.
