normalement, je dirais que c'est plutot "plaisir pour les yeux" ou chatoyant, mais dans ce contexte je crois l'auteur voulais dire "tape à l'oeil"--c'est à dire, des produits qui font beaucoup de bruit mais ne sont pas aussi performants.

often \"eye candy\" also carries the connotation of something pretty but mostly \"fluff\" i.e. not necessarily the \"real deal\". For ex. the movie Charlie\'s Angels has been called \"eye candy\"--personally I like it, so that\'s not necessarily a negative thing to say!
