English term or phrase: pin and shell tucks
Tucks are stitched folds that run the full length of the garment. You usually use tucks to decorate or embellish a project, but occasionally you use tucks for fitting detail.
Knowing how to sew three types of tucks should take care of most of your tucking needs. The three most common tucks are plain, pin, and shell.

While other sewing machine manufacturer's may give another name to this stitch, this is the stitch used to create shell tucks on the sewing machine. The stitches that overcast the edge of the fabric draw the fabric into a scalloped edge while the straight stitches make the tuck.
