I just got the idea that whether or not you've prepaid, come oyster time, you simply wade out into the water and grab them, the place is organized for this activity and the oysters are so plentiful you just slip into the water and grab your supper (or watch others do it...)

I think the nuance that others haven't picked up on is that activities like this normally have to be booked, there's a fee, a time etc. Here you just wade out and join in (or at least watch). As in "Literally all you have to do is wade out". That's my take on this one.
