English to French translations [PRO] Tech/Engineering - Transport / Transportation / Shipping / voies ferrées | | English term or phrase: ballast pocket | The soil moves outward and upward and cross-level develops in the track. This failure mode is usually apparent from soil heave along the track shoulders.

"below the track" isn't very explicit: is it the sleeper underside (voids/les vides de FX-F) or further down?

"cross-level develops in the track" should be "cross-level variation develops in the track": cross-level (or cant, or superelevation) is a quite normal designed feature of curved track - and has sometimes even been applied on straight track!
