I think vocabulary is not that accurate.
If I refer to the Oxford Dictionary of English, it says.

Spline:(1) a rectangular key fitting into grooves in the hub and shaft of a wheel, esp. one formed integrally with the shaft which allows movement of the wheel on the shaft.

Spline: (2) a corresponding groove in a hub along with the key may slide.

In the text given we speak only of one shaft spline that fits into one spline groove.

"spline" (clavette) est une partie mâle et "groove" (rainure, gorge ou cannelure) la partie femelle qui reçoit cette partie mâle.

Une rainure ou une cannelure, c'est à peu près la même chose, aussi la réponse "manchon cannelé" n'est pas dépourvue de sens. Néanmoins, manchon cannelé induit l'idée de plusieurs cannelures. Le texte parle d'une rainure.

la je dois avouer que je suis un peu paumée car "spline" peut vouloir dire "rainures" et grooves "gorges". et comme on trouve des "grooves"sur des bagues de synchronisation qui ne sont pas des clavettes. Le mot "spline"semble vouloir dire "cannelure" par moment dans mon texte.... Argh

Le nom complémenté est toujours placé en dernier, ainsi "spline groove" signifie rainure pour clavette et non pas l'inverse.
