Bonsoir

Reference: only found 2 Internet occurrences, from very old pieces of writing.

Reference information:
I only found 2 Internet occurrences of "star-eyed bird".

One is about Assyrian or Sumerian ideograms in
http://www.archive.org/stream/hebrewlanguagevi00deliuoft/heb... :

"Again, such designations
as "bird of the night," "queen of the river side," "golden
bird," "star-eyed bird," "bird of the thornbush," "bird of
the caves," "long-leg," "smasher of bones," which we gather
from their respective ideograms, greatly aid us in identifying
the animals in question."

The other one is an excerpt from "The Bengali Book of English Verse" in http://www.archive.org/stream/bengalibookengl00tagogoog/beng... :

"Descend, great Deity ! from thy cloud girt seat
Amidst the changeless, everlasting snows

Of lofty Himmala, where at thy feet

Time's self doth lie like Passion in repose.

And Kartikaya on his star-eyed bird.

As fits the war-god, bravely keeps his guard ;".

The meaning is even more obscure here. In both cases, this expression comes from very old pieces of writing. I understand it as "l'oiseau aux yeux en forme d'étoile"...
